Supporting our school and staying connected
The Sanborn PTO works hard to help make the school year both enjoyable and exciting for students, teachers, and parents.
The PTO uses its resources, both manpower and monetary, to support the efforts of the staff and to provide learning and enrichment opportunities for our children.
In order to make it easier for everyone to know who is managing each committee and what positions are still available, read the descriptions below and then visit the new PTO Volunteer Sign-up Genius. It’s a wonderful investment that will produce lasting benefits.
Ace Scarecrow Builders: ACE Scarecrow Builders: Be part of this annual town tradition and support the Andover Coalition for Education’s (ACE) fundraiser. ACE provides funding (through grants) to all Andover Public Schools, including Sanborn. Put together a group of friends, build a scarecrow, and have it displayed on Main Street. Each Andover school submits a few scarecrows.
Scholastic Book Fair: Support Co-Chairs Beth DeLeo (email@example.com) and Beth Grappone (firstname.lastname@example.org) by working a shift. November 1 - 8, 2019.
Casino Night: March 27, 2019. Assist Event Co-Chairs Lauren Annarelli (email@example.com) and Anny Tedeschi (firstname.lastname@example.org) with this new twist on our annual adult-only fundraiser.
Harvest Festival Volunteers: There are a variety of opportunities to assist Co-Chairs Kim Millien (email@example.com) and Heather Nutter (firstname.lastname@example.org). Help pack gift bags, deliver bags to Andover seniors, or assist with the hospitality event hosted for the special guests of the Harvest Festival Performance on November 22, 2019.
Children’s Stage Adventures (CSA) Parent Coordinator: Dec. 9 - 13, 2019. Team up with Sanborn’s Digital Learning Specialist Chris Gosselin to coordinate this year’s show. Liaison with CSA actors and organize parent assistance to monitor practice and help back-stage during the 12/13 show.
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Luncheon: May 8, 2020. Lots of fun and very rewarding chance to thank our wonderful teachers & staff for all they do for our kids all year.
Spring Social Chair: Assist with the organizing and hosting of an end-of-year family event. Past events have included an ice-cream social, Red Sox game, and night at the Lowell Spinners.
Back to School Family Fun Night 2019: This welcome-back event is held outside on the school playground in September. Open to all Sanborn staff, students, and families, it’s a great opportunity to meet and greet your teachers. Volunteer opportunities include Chairperson(s) to plan the night, as well as committee members.
DID YOU KNOW...
Did you know that research shows that your child can benefit from your active involvement in his or her school? The PTO would not function without the support of our wonderful volunteers. Please consider joining the fun!
PTO Board: The PTO Board typically includes the President(s), Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Communications Chair, and Enrichment Chair. Please consider “shadowing” a position this year. We would love the extra help and it makes for a smooth transition.
Please contact email@example.com for details.
Room Parents: Room Parents do a valuable job liaising between the teachers and parents of each class. You will communicate classroom needs from the teacher to the parents, collect items for special projects, organize parent volunteers for your class, and shop for teacher gifts during holidays and Teacher Appreciation Week. For more info, contact Kim Millien (firstname.lastname@example.org).
CPA: Love filing taxes? PTO is seeking an accountant to file our annual taxes, due November 15. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Contact Laura Casey
Spooky Fun Fair: Join Event Chair Lori Turgeon (email@example.com) in planning this long-time favorite & successful fundraiser.
